Microsoft Remote Desktop Mac Deprecated
Today's tip..
The Microsoft Remote Desktop 10 client for macOS with its redesigned user experience and new code base has been available in the App Store since last November and the feedback has been incredible, helping us continuously improve the client.
- Microsoft announced this week that has deprecated Remote Desktop Connection Manager (RDCMan) due to security concerns. The application has been around for decades, providing users with the ability to manage multiple remote desktop connections, but Microsoft has long been investing in other solutions to provide users with remote desktop access.

- Follow these steps to get started with Remote Desktop on your Mac: Download the Microsoft Remote Desktop client from the Mac App Store. Set up your PC to accept remote connections. (If you skip this step, you can't connect to your PC.) Add a Remote Desktop connection or a remote resource.
- Next look for Microsoft Remote Desktop in the App Store to download the new application on your Mac running OS X Yosemite or higher. Once installed you can skip the first run experience. In the menu click connections and choose the option to import connections from the other app.
- Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.0.39 - We added a light outline to the mouse cursor to make it more visible in apps with a dark theme (such as Visual Studio) Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.0.38 - The list of new resolutions wasn't showing up when you upgraded from version 8.0.36 - Adobe applications were crashing when you tried to use them as RemoteApps.
As more and more customers have switched to the new client for their daily usage, we are now preparing to retire the older Microsoft Remote Desktop 8.0 version from the App Store.
On September 1, 2018, version 8.0 will be retired and only version 10 will remain available for download.

Use Microsoft Remote Desktop for Mac to connect to a remote PC or virtual apps and desktops made available by your admin. I have an old version - 8.0.44 - of Microsoft Remote Desktop on my imac (macOS Catalina) that is telling me it’s deprecated so I looked at downloading the most up to date version. I had to set up a Microsoft account, and then when I go to download it, it’s saying I “have no devices” connected to my account. And only gives me options.
